Drill press table with vise
Check out this idea. Heres a drill press table Robert Naylor sent over. Nice table with a fence. But he added a thick removable center piece that can be swapped out at needed. But not just swapped out with another sacrificial piece, he attached a vice to one insert. Really creative way to hold stock into place:

WHAT TO DO WITH A BAD DESK DRAWER
This is one of my favorite types of projects to work on. Something passed on to me from
someone who knows no matter how bad it looks believes I can turn it into
something fabulous. And this desk did come out looking amazing so keep reading.
This secretary had stickers on it, screws in it, ink stains, drawers that didnt work,
but the largest problem was one drawer was missing the whole corner.
My solution was .... get rid of the drawer.
I moved the bottom drawer into the top hole and altered the frame.
I repositioned the front kick board up and cut the side panel back to the rear legs.

I put new legs on the front that just happened to be the exact length I needed.
If they had been shorter I could have cut the back legs to match the length.
Here she is standing up again with two drawers and new legs.
The inside of the top was also a big challenge to deal with. It had floor tiles stuck to the work surface,
melted wax to remove, holes that needed fill, and the piano hinge that held the fold down was
bent and missing screws. All of which I fixed but it took a lot of time and patience.
WD-40 is great for removing stickers and adhesive. Be sure to wash the area with soap and water after
using it. WD-40 is an oil based product that will cause water based paint to react funny on the surface.
Here she is all painted and put back together with new drawer pulls.
I hope this will get you thinking about your options for saving wood furniture from the landfill.

Petersburg Mi Problems with the mantle
On my previous post about the mantle being twisted, I have a question from a visitor, and I want to address it in a post, because of the way blogger is (you cant always follow comments and replies easily) -
Superdave0002 asks: "Do you think it will stay once you get it untwisted?"
Well, theres no easy answer to this. The best I can say is, I hope so! I mean this:
I know I can untwist it. The problem is the area of the country we live in. In lower Michigan, it can go from 35 degrees in the morning to 85 degrees in the afternoon, like it is now. Thats a drastic change on the moisture content of wood. To make matters worse, the dead of winter around here is even more harsh, and we have a VERY dry climate in January, with humidity levels dropping to single digits. Wood typically likes to be around 8-10% moisture content in our region. Its possible that I can straighten out this mantle, hang it, and next year it could twist a little! The only options are to try, or buy another piece (which is not in the budget, nor easy to find quickly).
My saving grace in this situation is my method of hanging it. Im going to employ a French Cleat (google it up for a reference). If it re-twists and I have to replace it, I will be able to do so without too much trouble.

How To Build A Shed With The Suitable Woodworking Tools

Thats really important to think about when youre planning the construction. Another thing to keep in mind is that it has to be placed where it isnt hiding the garden through the sun.
